Korean Ministry for Food and Agriculture learning journey to Europe
A delegation of agents of the veterinary services of the Korean Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MIFAFF) has ended a successful research mission in Europe with assistance from EUCCK and EUKICA.
The mission consisted of carrying out a benchmark study on the process through which European livestock products are made and sold to the consumers by sellers. The delegation also focused on European and national regulations and their implementation both in the processing plants and in the retailing markets.
The delegation visited selected livestock slaughterhouses, livestock products manufacturers and government veterinarians & regulators in Denmark and France from 25th, Oct. to 2nd, Nov. They had an opportunity to closely examine the European meat - swine and cattle - and dairy products industry from production stages to retail and also gain an insight into regulatory and sanitary measures imposed by each member state and European Commission.
The mission was organized within the framework of Korean governmental program which aims to consider the revision of the livestock products¡¯ sanitation regulations. The program ultimately looks to revitalize the agricultural and livestock industry by restoring consumer confidence.
