Is Friday Most Stressful Day?

The Korea Times, August 8, 2006

Cigarette sales reach their highest levels on Friday, according to KT&G, Korea¡¯s largest tobacco company.

Citing a survey conducted among 9,404 discount retail stores across the country from June-July, the cigarette maker said that a total of 132.5 million packs of cigarettes, including domestic and foreign brands, were sold in eight weeks.

And during those eight weeks, Fridays saw the most sales at 19.5 million packs.
This means that consumers bought close to 15 packs out of 100 every Friday during the eight-week period.

If cigarette sales relate to people¡¯s stress levels, KT&G noted that Friday is the day people feel the most pressure.

Sales on Sunday were the lowest at 17.9 million packs, as people are out of the office and at home resting.

But cigarette sales figures gradually climb up at the beginning of the week when people start the hustle and bustle of their lifestyle from Monday through Friday. But it slows down during the weekend when people find themselves at ease, said a KT&G official.
